One of the main aspects in processes of strategic noise maps of agglomerations is traffic flow assignment to the road graph. This issue is very important because it has a decisive effect in the data processing and calculation phase, as well as, consequently, in the strategic noise map’s results. In this article, the methodologies implemented by authors to some Italian case studies are presented. In this particular case, the approach starts to comparison between methods adopted in two agglomerations situated in the same geographical area (Emilia Romagna region) but significantly different as urbanization characteristics, traffic flows, touristic aspects (Rimini and Forlì). The aim is to focus on effects in term of number of people exposed to noise, resulting from different methods of traffic flow assignment.
